Gong collaborates with inspiring lighting designer, Budiman Ong
Gong is a renowned name in lighting design and whilst they are continuing to develop their own stunning new collections, their latest exciting chapter has seen them collaborate with innovative designer, Budiman Ong.
Gong is defined by timeless designs, finest quality materials and expert craftsmanship and so when Gong designer, Jo Plismy travelled to Bali and met Budiman Ong, she knew they shared a similar ethos. Much like Jo, Budiman Ong has always been drawn to lighting and loves to create original, hand-crafted pieces that let the character of the unique materials speak for themselves. The Ong Collection features a number of different materials including stainless steel, brass, paper, linen, copper and the more unusual zipper, which all play a huge part in the creation of these elegant lights.
Jo comments;
“Budiman is a fantastic designer and we are thrilled to be collaborating with him. The creations are timeless and innovative, fusing traditional craft with modern elements, resulting in pieces filled with stories and soul. The designs sit perfectly with our own collections and I am so excited to be bringing these beautiful lights to the UK and Europe.”
*NEW DESIGN* – Bunga Kertas Chandelier
Translated as Bougainvillia, it’s easy to see where the inspiration from this latest design came from. Hand-crafted from stainless steel, copper, and sungkai wood, the fusion between flower and leaves creates a surreal natural effect. It is an organic design in that each petal is malleable meaning it can be reshaped by the owner, so each piece is truly unique to them. *NEW DESIGN* – Bungkus Pendant
Cleverly made from crocheted zipper which is then gathered together, these dreamy lights look like little clouds of cotton wool. Particularly enchanting when hung in a group, these adorable little pendants are perfect for creating a soft, romantic scheme.
