Norwood Hall Hotel raises a glass to 50 years of weddings
North-east couples who tied the knot at Norwood Hall have shared fond memories of their big day as part of an event celebrating 50 years of weddings at the hotel.
Aberdeen’s country house in the city, Norwood Hall Hotel, hosted the exclusive reunion to bring together couples who had been married at the historic hotel since it was converted from a private residence in the early 1970s.
Guests reminisced over good food, fizz and entertainment, including live music from David Flett, photography from J Dyer and a performance from Thistle Piping. Couples were also encouraged to bring along a wedding photo for a chance to win an afternoon tea for two.
Norwood Hall, which was taken over by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts in 1992, has welcomed thousands of brides and grooms through its doors over the past five decades and continues to host countless special moments for all the family.
Aimee Nekrews, weddings and special events manager at Norwood Hall Hotel, commented: “We were proud to host this fun-filled reunion and have the chance to celebrate all the brides and grooms who have passed through our doors over the past 50 years.
“Norwood Hall is a special place and we are always pleased to hear from our guests how much they enjoy coming back to the hotel with their loved ones for celebrations with the whole family.
“It was lovely to meet the different couples on the night, listen to their stories and explain some of the positive changes we’ve made over the years. Our special thanks to David Flett Vocalist, J Dyer Photography and Thistle Piping for helping make it such a memorable occasion.”
In 2023, Norwood Hall celebrated a double win at a prestigious national awards event in recognition of its reputation for wedding excellence. The hotel clinched the Wedding Venue of the Year (North) honour at the Scottish Wedding Awards after impressing judges with its commitment to providing first-class customer service to brides and grooms.
It was a night to remember with the hotel also claiming the Local Wedding Exhibition of the Year award for its popular annual Norwood Hall Wedding Fayre.
This latest awards success for Norwood followed honours for the Wedding Venue of the Year at the Top Tier Awards in 2019 and 2022 respectively.
The hotel never holds more than one wedding on any given day to ensure complete focus is given to each couple. It caters for ceremonies of all sizes, from up to 200 people in the venue’s ballroom to smaller, more intimate affairs in the library or private function rooms.
Norwood’s acclaimed Tapestry Restaurant features traditional Scottish décor and is committed to providing the finest locally sourced produce and ingredients. Similarly, the menu for each wedding or event can be tailor-made to suit individual tastes or preferences whilst retaining an emphasis on quality food and drink.
Norwood Hall Hotel sits within the grounds of the 15th century Pitfodels Castle and offers 73 luxury bedrooms, including multiple bridal suites and period rooms. Built in 1881, the four-star hotel caters for weddings all year round and is surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery and a tranquil location within close proximity to the city centre.
