The Paglierino Collection from SACW: A Captivating Travertine Effect Porcelain Tile Collection with Two Distinct Finishes https://lhmagazine.co.uk/the-paglierino-collection-from-sacw-a-captivating-travertine-effect-porcelain-tile-collection-with-two-distinct-finishes/ Thu, 21 Dec 2023 09:42:37 +0000 https://lhmagazine.co.uk/?p=19929 Expertly crafted from hard-wearing porcelain, the Paglierino collection from the Stone & Ceramic Warehouse offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional travertine. This collection captures the timeless beauty of natural stone with a choice of cross-cut and vein-cut designs. These two cutting techniques create distinct appearances from the same material, providing versatile options for your space. The captivating cross-cut design mirrors the effect of cutting across the grain, revealing cloud-like patterns. The tiles’ soft, warm tones and subtle surface variations evoke a natural sense of movement, reminiscent of genuine stone formations. Paglierino cross-cut tiles are suitable for walls and floors and are available in three elegant neutral colours: Light, Classic, and Oyster. Choose from three different sizes: 60x60cm, 60x120cm and 120x280cm. Vein-cut is when a stone slab is cut against the natural grain, highlighting the distinctive banding and linear patterns of the veining within the material. This process results in nearly parallel veins of varying colours that appear lengthwise or vertically. The Paglierino vein-cut tiles exemplify this captivating effect, featuring layered patterns that can be used to create visually stunning results. There are four colour options to choose from in this design; Light, Classic, Oyster, and Noce. Suitable for walls and floors and available in two sizes: [...]

Planning permission granted for Cliffemount, a 20-bedroom hotel in Runswick Bay https://lhmagazine.co.uk/planning-permission-granted-for-cliffemount-a-20-bedroom-hotel-in-runswick-bay/ Mon, 11 Dec 2023 13:50:16 +0000 https://lhmagazine.co.uk/?p=19866 Cliffemount Hotel has been granted planning permission today by North Yorkshire Council’s Planning Authority. The vision is to build a hotel and make it the UK’s first-ever Passivhaus hotel, with sustainability at the forefront of its design. The concept for Cliffemount came from Karen Fojt and her two daughters, Melissa and Siobhan, and son Howard, with the idea of creating a unique hotel and investing back into the local area. Having created so many wonderful memories there themselves over the years, they want to be able to create that for other individuals and families. Alongside the 20 bedrooms, Cliffemount will have a restaurant, pub, and bar – three separate establishments to encourage both guests and the local community to socialise and unwind. The Fojt family, who acquired the hotel in 2022, hope to create a space where people can enjoy a luxury experience and create lasting memories. Cliffemount will give guests, and the local community, their “moment of calm” with delicious local food, breath-taking cliff top views, and design-led rooms. The hotel aims to have a limited impact on the environment by leading the way in the hospitality industry as the first-of-its-kind PassivHaus hotel in the United Kingdom. The family [...]

Presented by MIXD Interiors and sponsored by Hansgrohe, the installation was imagined as a blueprint for a hotel room and designed to be a multifunctional, flexible space. It also provided the ideal backdrop for a panel discussion on the future of hotel design. Held on Thursday 16 November, Build Better Together, with Hansgrohe in collaboration with MIXD and Always Thinking, explored in depth the themes that emerged from the bathroom brand’s recent roundtable discussions with the commercial hotel supply chain. In the last 18 months it has held events for architects, specifiers, interior designers, contractors, and hotel operators working across limited service, lifestyle, and luxury hotel projects to better understand the challenges and opportunities the supply chain is facing – both now and in the future. Price versus value, the undeniable impact of the sustainability agenda and the predicted role technology development and [...]
